Account Application and Onboarding
When you initially open a DOPAY account, you are required to fill out Profile Details information, answer a Questionnaire, take a photo of your valid identification card, and take a selfie. Upon review and additional assessment, applications with consistent information and validated contact details are approved.
Additional information may be requested from other applicants. Once additional documentation complies with all regulatory requirements, respective applications are approved. Those that do not are rejected.

Customer and Account Verification (KYC)
Why is Customer and Account Verification important?
When you sign up for a financial service like an e-wallet, remittance application, or online banking service, you are often asked to upload a government issued ID and take a selfie. That process is for customer and account verification (KYC).
Since everything happens online, our staff can’t see you face-to-face like in a bank branch. That is why you are asked to take a selfie or go through a liveness check (where you blink, turn your head or follow instructions). This step helps in confirming that the person using the app or device is the same person shown in the submitted government issued ID. It’s an important way to prevent identity fraud and account fraud.
When you submit your ID and complete KYC, the system records and verifies your identity securely. These records will help protect you in the future. If you lose access to your account, your verified ID becomes proof that the account really belongs to you. It stops others from using your information for suspicious or illegal activities.
WIBS PHP INC., the company behind DOPAY, is licensed or supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as an Electronic Money Issuer (EMI) and as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP). We use strong data protection measures to keep your personal information safe. Your ID and selfie are stored securely and only used for verification purposes.
Doing customer and account verification (KYC) might feel like an extra step, but it is one of the best ways to keep your money, identity, and account safe. So, when you take that selfie or upload your ID, always remember that it is not just a requirement; it is your first line of defense against fraud and identity theft.
